Kristian's FIRST solo gig in San Francisco EVER!

Due to the intervention of the lovely and adorable Luis Illades of Pansy Division, Kristian has his first solo gig in San Francisco, on the same bill as the latest musical muse in his checkered life, Superstar Mink Stole. Unfortunately, Kristian's usual band, the Rock Gods, are mostly unavailable, so you'll get a rare chance to hear Kristian in full-on cabaret/songwriter mode, accompanied only by his own keys and the guitar stylings of Dave Bongionvanni. But don't be fooled - Kristian will still rock in a glam fashion.

Then Kristian plays keys in headlining act Mink Stole's band, which at this point consists of Kristian, George Baby Woods of Candypants fame, and the redoubtable Dave Bongiovanni!

  • Sunday, March 26th
Immaculate Heart at the AFI Campus

2021 North Western Avenue at Franklin, Hollywood

    5:00-8:00 P.M.

Kristian's friend Charlotte McGinnis is having a benefit to offset the exorbitant medical costs of having cancer in a Bush regime, and despite the sad pretext for the event, the show promises to be quite a fab affair with an uber-rare appearance by Paul "Pee Wee Herman" Reubens himself!

Charlotte McGinnis was one of Paul Reubens' first comedy partners. They appeared on the Gong show five times, and won! Charlotte also appeared in Donald Kreiger's musical "Island" for which Kristian wrote all the songs - it co-starred John Fleck, Weba Garretson and Lance Loud! Charlotte was also the star of Rocky Schenck's "Shirley Jessel's Hollywood", about a desperate Hollywood never-was talk-show hostess wannabe reduced to breaking into Tovah Borgnine's apartment to examine the articles on her vanity table.

PAUL REUBENS will host the cabaret portion of the event, which will include Kristian playing keys for ANN MAGNUSON, ABBY TRAVIS, MINK STOLE, EMILY FOLEY, PATTY FOLEY, and HIMSELF singing his recent anti-Bush musical rant "EVIL". The legendary MUMS and NEA 4 stalwart mad genius JOHN FLECK will also perform.

ROB ZABRECKY will host the art auction which will include works by KENNY SCHARF, ROCKY SCHENCK, and many more

There will be a silent auction for kooky vacations, studio time, and all sorts of cool stuff, and free hors d'oeuvres

Suggested donation for all of this fab entertainment is a measly $25.00

Parking is available at the AFI entrance on Western Avenue, just 1/2 block north of Franklin.

  • Wed, Oct. 19th
    THE DERBY, Los Feliz
David English of the band Tribeca was kind enough to hunt me down specifically to ask me to play with him and his band at this gig. Thanks! I LOVE the Derby, and like so many wonderful things in L.A. it is endangered, threatened, and probably going to be torn down! I always thought a great motto for Los Angeles would be "L.A. - the City That Doesn't Care!" Typically they have to save every horribly grim rust-stained beige cinderblock and plaster board aluminum-windowed decaying 70's apartment building in favor of tearing down the VERY few actual landmarks we have left ! What do they have planned for the site of this famed Hollywood 30's nitery? (which also in one incarnation was Michael's Los Feliz - a steakhouse I attended every Monday night for about seven years - the Lawrence Welk type live music and ball room style dancing of my cocktail glitter garbed elder dining compatriots was so comforting and civilized! And they stocked Green Chartreuse) Why, a high priced Condo development. Surprise! Just what Los Feliz needs! Tear down what makes Los Feliz attractive - that it is a pedestrian friendly historical neighborhood with great restaurants, clubs, shops and movie theaters, in beautiful vintage buildings all in walking distance - so the people that find it attractive can move there and find that what they moved there FOR is gone. That makes sense, L.A. style! Anyway, this is not only a chance to introduce yourself to the fetchingly eccentric musical stylings of Tribeca (check out WWW.TRIBECAMUSIC.NET), and to see ME and my fabulous rock band play a full set with Mink's fabulous drummer Matt North sitting in with the Rock Gods, and a chance to savor the Derby - while it lasts! - but it's also FREE! FREE! FREE!

Kristian Hoffman & The Rock Gods (Promptly at 8:30 - there's a high probability I'm playing across the street at Tangier in Abby's band at 10:00 the same night!) and Daniel Mackenzie
    The Derby Club

    MINK STOLE
Very excited to get to play another run with Mink for her fabulous one woman show, and to be part of her lovely band (including the aforementioned George "Baby" Woods, Dave "Every band in Silverlake" Foster, and the lovely Matt North) especially since Mink has been so supportive of me - playing so many shows with me, singing with my band, and now covering TWO of my compositions: the Mumps chestnut "Waiting For The World To Catch Up" and "God If Any"! That's a darn blessing in my book! At the Cavern Club Theater. Click on thumbnail for details:

I got asked to be on this gay chat show on one of those new Gay themed networks. I visited the studio and it is HUGE and bustling - but they apparently don't carry it in the Los Angeles market yet. I went to their website looking for local listings to try and figure out where you CAN see it, but it doesn't seem like there's an easy way to figure that out. But anyway - should anyone be able to view it (and they show in Boston, NYC, and San Francisco at least, here's the info:

Kristian Hoffman and the Rock Gods LIVE on "On Q Live" (and I think I'll have a brief interview as well, although I think they have as many as six guests in a 90 minute segment)

  • Tuesday September 20
Abby got the enviable slot opening for the reunion one of L.A.'s best dressed, most star studded, most outrageously glam bands EVER - also the first post punk band to cover Abba I believe. Every member is an absolute star - especially Tim (one-time Cramp - how could they let him go?) "Sugarpie" Ferris! If Celebrity Skin were only in the perceived Godhead league with X that they deserve, there'd be a lot more glamourous mincing, posing and soaring melodic invention on the scene today! Will we cover Bowie? Of course! Not to be missed! If I weren't playing, I'd be paying - and I DETEST the whole Sunset Blvd. rock scene, so that's saying something.

CELEBRITY SKIN Reunion Tour, Abby Travis, Lily & The Ladies 7 PM $8 - $10 on the day of Show

  • Friday, August 5, 2005: Bricktops

    A panicked note from Kristian:
BRICKTOPS IS CLOSING! In the usual tragic fashion, the building that houses The Parlour Club has been sold, and everyone is being kicked out.

So this Friday IS THE LAST BRICKTOPS SHOW EVER - at least for a few months so Miss Vaginal Creme Davis can see if she can find another suitable venue - good luck!

To celebrate/mourn this seminal event, loads of people who have made Bricktops their second home will be performing short loving farewell sets. It should be an incredible emotional evening in the only club where I can truly say I've NEVER had a bad time.

I will be playing keyboards for MINK STOLE while she channels Edith Piaf with her show stopping redition of "Je Ne Regrette Rien". Then I will sing and play "God If Any". Then I will accompany KIRA VOLLMAN (Non-Credo) whose incredible Yma Sumac range makes her the perfect choice to sing my song for Klaus Nomi "Total Eclipse".

Please come - wear something fancy and embarrass yourself! You'll hear about the show you missed for years if you don't!
